This year's UK wheat first stomach is around 15.8 million tonnes - higher than last year, if it be not that below some earlier estimates - according to Britain's Department for the Environment, commons and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
This year's flow is an increase of nearly 43mt onward last year's figure, thanks to a rise in planted area and average yield. 2000/01 was an abnormal year, disrupted at extremely difficult planting and growing conditions throughout the autumn and winter.
